"Awaken Your Senses: Coffee as a Daily Ritual"

Good morning, lovely coffee enthusiasts!

Hey there, it's Roberta!

I'm saying hello with the delicious aroma of fresh coffee. That smell is just magical—it wakes you up and lifts your spirits. As a true coffee lover, I don't just start my day with a cup; I have a little morning ritual. Want to dive into the world of coffee with me and see why it's more than just a quick morning boost?

The Seduction of Coffee Aroma

What's so magical is the smell of coffee in the morning. On one hand, it is comfortable and refreshing; on the other, it seems to open up a whole world of new possibilities. Strong whiffs of espresso, and subtle hints of latte—all point to a different day full of new possibilities.

A Cup of Culture

Coffee is not only a beverage; it has united cultures and people across the world in a single link. From espresso bars in Italy to coffee carts on the streets of New York City, there's something special somewhere. Here in Australia, it's a craft, a formative and domesticated taste.

Health in a Cup

Beyond the pleasure it gives, filter coffee is pervaded with antioxidants. Thus, it becomes an energy booster and shields against many diseases. It's a guilt-free indulgence that energizes, protects, and stimulates.

Community and Connection

What really works well with coffee is bringing people closer. Be it a coffee date with friends or a quick catch-up during the work coffee break, it's the beverage that serves as a medium to bind people together and enrich relationships. For me, personally, coffee has been a constant companion through many meetings, late nights, and lazy mornings.

A Journey of Flavors

Every cup of coffee is an odyssey. From the pungency of earthy flavours in a dark roast to a cappuccino's smooth creaminess, every lover answers their call amidst the vast diversity of flavours. For the experimenter, there's an almost unlimited variety of coffee mixes, blends, and brews available to them.

Living the Coffee Lifestyle

As much as we love our coffee, we signify a way of life—a statement of style that's chic, suave, yet very personal. It's a way to enjoy the moment and appreciate the simple things in life while rejoicing over things that may seem a bit too ordinary.

To all my fellow coffee lovers, I invite you to brew your favourite blend, take a moment, and enjoy the joy of it all. Share your stories and your favourite coffee moments with me, and let us raise a cup for this delightful journey together.

Australia - has a rich coffee culture and a variety of unique coffee types:

Flat White: Probably the most iconic Australian coffee, a flat white is like a latte but with less microfoam on top. This really lets more of the rich flavour of the espresso come through.

Long Black: Similar to the Americano, it is hot water with one or two shots of espresso added to the top of the cup. This preserves the crema and allows for a much stronger flavour of espresso.

Short Black: Elsewhere known as a single espresso or espresso shot, it's strong and full of flavour.

Cappuccino: In most places, very similar to a cappuccino anywhere else, though Australian baristas are quite particular about getting the balance of foam to espresso just right and often sprinkle the top with chocolate powder.

Latte: This Australian version comes in a glass, not a cup, and is very smooth and creamy with normally only a small amount of froth on top.

Piccolo Latte: basically, an ant-sized latte, just served in a small glass. Since there is less milk than in a regular latte, the taste is stronger in coffee.

Ristretto: Quite literally, it means "restricted" and hence refers to a shot of espresso that has less volume—thereby making it more concentrated and less bitter because less water passes through the grinds of coffee.

Macchiato: A shot of espresso "stained" with a small amount of milk or frothed milk. If you prefer your drinks a bit stronger, order a "long macchiato" which usually includes two ristrettos or shots of espresso.

Mocha: One of the tastiest brewed beverages that combines chocolate and espresso topped with steaming milk, whipped cream or marshmallow topping.

Affogato: This is a dessert coffee wherein a shot of espresso is dropped into a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Magic: This specialty, born in Melbourne, is created by making the double ristretto, steaming the milk for this drink, and serving it in a smaller cup. It basically tastes very strong but well-balanced.

Cold Brew: This kind of coffee has been steeped for hours on end in cold water, which explains why it normally contains less acid and less bitterness than its hot-brewed counterparts.

Iced Coffee: While in most countries, iced coffee simply means coffee on ice, it comes with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream in Australia.

Here are some of the kinds of coffee you may come across in Brazil:

Cafézinho: Translating literally to "little coffee," this is essentially a small cup of strong filtered coffee, almost always very sweet, served as a gesture of hospitality in homes and businesses.

Café com Leite: Coffee with milk, the equivalent of a latte; the proportion of coffee to milk is frequently much stronger in this beverage. Very famous as a breakfast drink in Brazil.

Cappuccino Brasileiro: In contrast to the Italian cappuccino, this includes cinnamon and sometimes chocolate powder sprinkled on top, making it quite unique and full of flavor.

Espresso: As in most other countries, this is a very strong shot of coffee taken at any time of the day.

Pingado: a cup of hot milk with a drop or two of coffee added, typically drunk at breakfast or as an afternoon treat.

Here's to many more mornings like this—full of good coffee and great ideas!

With much love and caffeine,

Roberta Quaglio
